Gstaad New Year Music Festival
The adventure of a Lifetime

It all started in December 2005.
Princess Caroline Murat, herself a celebrated concert pianist under the stage name of Caroline Haffner, decided to bring together young talents and established maestros.

She would create her own festival in Gstaad, Switzerland, and the surrounding mountain villages during the holiday season. It would be an opportunity to experience innovative programmes and the audience would get to meet the artists in an elegant yet informal setting.

Princess Caroline Murat could not have been better suited for the task, having helped Martin Engstroem with the Verbier Festival for several years, co-founded the Verbier Academy and co-founded the Sommets Musicaux de Gstaad in 2001.

Today the Festival is placed under the patronage of H.S.H. Prince Albert II de Monaco. Over the years it has hosted over 300 concerts and events featuring more than 1000 artists ranging from the age of 3 to 80. Artists come from Switzerland, Europe and beyond to perform and spend quality time with their audience in elegant venues.

Over the past seasons the Festival has welcomed Maxime Vengerov, Gautier Capuçon, Julian Rachlin, Emmanuel Rossfelder, Jeremy Menuhin, Gaston Rivero, Inva Mula, Marthe Keller, Clotilde Courau, Cyrielle Clair, Pretty Yende, Marina Rebeka, Pinchas Zukerman among many other artists of international repute.

This non profit event has now become a highlight of Gstaad’s cultural landscape.
